I had a 73 120hp Chrysler on my boat and bought a 81 140hp evinrude for it.Mounting it this saturday.Could anyone tell me the weight difference between these two. Thanks
They had the weight for the 140hp.305lbs.For the chrysler it only went back to 1980 and that was 310lbs.But in 73 they made things heavy and strong.Look at the cars.So i'm thinking it weighed more in 73.

I doubt if there's a whole lot of technology change in carbureted outboards in those 7 years. Outboards did not go through the same huge changes in those years like cars did. If they happened to change that HP engine from a larger to a smaller block or vice versa, that might change it significantly - you know how they group outboard HP's and sometimes those groups change. But other than that, I doubt if it's a large change either way. But I'm not speaking from actual knowledge of that line of engines.
Maybe they can weigh them when they remove one and replace the other? That would cut through my BS hypothesizing!
