weird fuel problem

5.0 mercruiser alpha one

When i go to take off the boat starts rising up the boat quits and is starving for gas. I put i electrical pump on it and connected it straight to the tank and it still does it.Ive removed the unit that picks up gas from the tank and its not pulling air/leaking.But the little ball rattles inside it but im thinking the ball is moving and shutting the gas off.could this happen?
Ive tried everything and thats all i have left to try.And do i need this valve? could i just put another fitting their?

Ayuh,... That's the Anti-siphon valve, yer's is bad, get a New 1,....

run yer motor from a remote tank to help diagnose yer fuel issue,..

I did that a few mounts ago and ran good.ok ill try that
