weird problem

hey guys i have a 9.8 merc 1970 is the year... and i start it up and she seems to idle fine when it first stats up but then after about a minute it seems to only run on one cylinder and if i rev it up then bring it back down to idle too quickly it will die, but if i bring it back down slowly it catches itself then starts again.... dam ive done just about everything here cleaned the carbs,check the spark, changed the plugs, check the compression... only thing i can think of now is electrical.... i think i may have some arcing wires arcing to ground or something or maybe bad coils im not sure.... any body have any idea whats up?

make sure the high-tension coil wire is in good condition and that it is inserted all the way into the coil
