Welding galvanized trailer?

Can a galvanized trailer be welded? If so than is it something that can be done by a good welder and how much would he/she charge to weld the top rail of a lifting pontoon trailer (I have a picture of the trailer but have no way to post it here Can I send it to someone so they can post it for me?) Any one know/is a good welder in southern Delaware?

galvanizing is just a zinc coating that can easily be ground off for welding. It will also burn off while welding. Just be sure to paint the welded area with a galavanize paint or she'll rust....

thanks docCad, but I would be the last person to try and weld anythink ( I would start some kind of fire and burn down half the state of DE, and than RI would no longer be the smallest state LOL

For a small job like that I can't see charging anything. I guess a welding or machine shop may charge $10 or $20, but I wouldn't charge anything at my place. And yeah, fume from welding galvanized metal will put your head in a sling, right next to your stomach

I have welded alot of galv. , if you ever do weld it or are around the fumes , drink 1/2 glass of milk before and after , it helps neutralize the poison , I know ( slow learner ) poisoned lungs 3 times . But is very easy to weld just sort of flames up some if you donot grind it . Should not cost that much for what you need . Cooter
