Welding upper gear housing.....

Well in finding out I have a crack in my upper gear housing on my Merc EZ shift (1965) I wanted to know if it can be welded? the crack is at the back end runs from the outside in......

Are these units aluminum? Also has anyone else welded thier upper or lower outdrive with any luck....

Ayuh,.... They Are cast Aluminum....

Whether it can be Welded depends on the Crack, Where it's Cracked,+ the Weldor's realitive Talent.....
