The last 2 times out, the engine was hard to start, idle was low, it would die sometimes when shifted into gear, took forever to gain RPM and to plane.

Well, I`m running down the river at 3/4 throttle and all of the sudden, she just quit. Tried to restart, just turned over. I looked at my buddy and asked him to check the bulb and see if I was getting fuel. Of coarse, he wasnt sure, so reach back start sqeezing....nothing. I disconnected the line at the bulb, blew into toward the tank, (thinking it was clogged)....nothing but air,no bubbles.

After I get the rig home (thank goodness for trolling motors) I remove the 90* regulator on top of the gas tank, and sure enough, the pick up tube had dried rotted and broke off at the very top of the nipple. Looked like it was made of some cheap clear plasit tubing. I made the repair with good fuel line, and now it runs like a top.

I quess there was a vacuum leak where the pick up tube was rotted and cracked, causing the engine to be so tempermental.

I just love those oddball one of kind problems.

Glad you found it, maybe clean the tank out really well and get a fual filter on it so you don't suck up old bits of gas line.
