My 1980 15ft fiberglass Kingfisher sprung a leak on Saturday. Guess it had to happen sometime. More of a drip, really. Ran some water in it Sunday and, as suspected, it's coming in around a plastic thru-hull fitting near the bottom of the transom. It's a live-well fill pump, looks like probably a DIY job at some point in the boat's history.

I have to assume that water has been infiltrating the transom for awhile before it finally started coming into the boat.

I hate the thought of sitting out the rest of the summer, not to mention working in 100-plus degree weather during August, so I'll seal it with 5200 & tackle it this winter. :(

Just needed to share with someone; thanks iboats.

jtw

It'll live 'till winter, then you can tear into it like Rosie O'Donnel into a stack of ribs...

jtexas, Its probally that stump you smacked at Caddo awhile back. Not really. My feathercraft was taking on about 2 gph. Made the wife real nervous. Ended up being a o-ring on the cone portion of plug. I looked at it several times and it looked ok untill one day I decided to look at it with my reading glasses on. Makes all the differance.

Actually, I been running in a lot of rough water the past few weeks down at Richland Chambers reservior - I'm just starting to get the hang of it. I mean how fast & what angle to keep from slamming into waves and drenching everything in the boat. The sandies are going crazy down there, cajun, you ought to come on down - I'll be there Saturday.

I can't. I'm in the bucket this weekend, besides I've had the ole johnny tore down doing a repaint, raised the mount 2.25 inches so I have to do some modifying on steering cables. Hopefully I'll have it done by next weekend. The wifes nagging me to take fishing.
