I just bought this boat, its a 2000 and i need to replace a part and i have no idea what its called. On the sides of the boat there is a place to put several fishing rods, like three or four. Above that, on the top of the rail there is a piece of fiberglass like part that sits on the rail, almost like a running board to step on for gettin onto the boat. Its made of a hard substance that's cracked where you screw it in. I have no idea what its called to replace them. Any help???

It's called the gunwale. You'll have to get one from Wellcraft. Even though your boat is out of warranty (I assume) they might replace it for you; they aren't supposed to crack--can you tell what may have broken it? Also, a nearby dealer might help you out.

It looks like the screws were overtightened. Both sides are cracked where the screws are. I looked on the Wellcraft site, but didn't know what it was called to look for it. I still can't find on there where to get parts like that. I'm a novice lol

Sad to say, but you can pretty much forget about getting much help from wellcraft these days, especially on a boat model from 2000. I know as I got an 180 fishrman of year 2000 vintage. I have been trying for over a year to get an actual wiring diagram and actual location of various pumps etc on my boat. Good luck if you find a source. There isn't a wellcraft dealer within 4 states of me here in NC and so the search goes on.

Of course like you I am also a somewhat novice boater and have limited mechanical skills.

Check your local area an see if there are any salvage boat yards, you may get lucky with finding parts.

Wish I had more posative feedback for you.

After a tour through several pictures on line, it sounds like it is an add on possibly a cutting board for bait and or fish cleaning

No it's not a cutting board or add on ! I have the exact same center console as this guy. Basically wellcraft has widened the top of the gunwale where you would normal step to enter your boat. It's a plate about 3 ft in length that is installed on top of the gunwale. Next time I am down to my boat I will take a pic of what it looks like so you can get a better understanding.
