Wellcraft Martinique 3700 Engine Hatch: How to open?

I just took delivery of a 2001 Wellcraft Martinique 3700 shipped from the USA. I tried to put on the 12V electricals after switching on all the 12v switches at the electrical control panel. Nothing happened. I could not turn on the lights etc. I figured that the main battery switch was not turned on. I tried to open the engine hatch which I believe is where the main battery switches are. I could not locate the hatch switch. Furthermore even if I were to locate the switch for the electrical hatch, I am not sure if the batteries still have any juice in them. Can some boater out there who is familiar with the Wellcraft advise me where the hatch switches are and if the batteries are flat, how can the engine hatch be manually opened? Is it just a matter of prying open the hatch with a screwdriver or will that damage the hatch electrical opening mechanism?

Thanks

Mike

Re: Wellcraft Martinique 3700 Engine Hatch: How to open?

With respect to my query above on the Wellcraft 3700, does anyone know whether the main battery switch (I guess the usual red Perko) is in the engine compartment or tucked away somewhere in the boat other than the engine compartment.

Cheers
Mike
