I bought a 1986 procraft 1750v Bass boat and the trailer was set up with a seven prng plug on it instead of the flat one that my 1999 ford ranger was equipped with. So I went to Pep Boys and bought a seven prong female end for my truck. I hooked it up correctly or so i thought. When i put a tester to each prong i get power everywere except the brake prong. So you would think that when i plug the trailer to the truck The turn signals should work, and the running lights should work but even thoughs do not work. The plug is grounded to the trailer hitch on the truck. There are two wires left but they go into a trailer brake box that i do not have, and even if i did the trailer has no brakes anyway. Whats the deal

Check the trailer with a meter, your truck may be fine.
