Re: were is year tag at on a 5/150force
This question has come up dozens of times. No one has ever posted an answer other than the id plate in the engine mount, the title if it has one, or stamped somewhere on the motor/powerhead. The identifying number on the older Force motors is the MODEL number, not the serial number.<br />Example: 1506D873<br />The 150 being the hp, and the 87 being the year.<br /><br />I personally have looked at a few Forces (including mine) and have not found it stamped anywhere but the id plate. I have also contacted Mercury factory reps for help, and they had no answer other than the id plate.<br /><br />I think your best chance is to take it to a dealer or repair shop that has experience in fixing them, and have them compare your engine to their notes/parts catalog/and manuals. Offer them $10 for their time, or promise to buy some parts from them.
