I needed one in a hurry so I went to check out West Marine, they had one for like 42 bucks. Thought I'd post a couple pics and my "review". It seems to do the job well. Comes with an adapter if you dont have a center roller on the rear of the trailer. Need to remove the U bracket and install a small bracket on the rear of trailer. One hole is needed, I used an existing one.
Hard to use solo, you need someone to hold it in place while you lower the motor. I got around this once or twice with a bungie cord, but its tricky, you have to keep going and taking a peek to make sure the motor is settling in to the holder properly. It comes with a rubber strap to further secure it to the lower unit. Nice heavy duty rubber pads to grip the lower unit. And I no longer worry, thats the best part.

Hey, too bad about the old one, but glad you got another. I too wanted one with either a spring or piston "shock absorber", but for the price this one seems to do the intended job.

Could you mount a trim/tilt switch on your motor? It makes it a very easy one man job.

I installed one on my DT115 Suzuki. Got a Marine Grade, three way rocker switch form NAPA. Works great...

I need to get one of these, where would be a good place to mount a switch on an I/O?

With an I/O, you would have to mount it somewhere at the stern in the hull, along a rail,or just inside the stern somewhere convienent as there is no part of the Outdrive that does not get submerged. But, yes it is convienent to walk around the stern, undoo straps, put in plug and raise, unlock motor and trim down some before launch without having to go back and forth to the Helm...

I've always used the built in support bracket. Why bother with another device?

too bad they don't make one with a ratchet on the adjustable arm, put it on,raise the unit to ratchet up to position. thumb release to remove.
