Hey folks,
The Mrs got me a West Marine Turbo Dryer to prevent mold, mildew, and dampness onboard for Christmas. Does anyone else use one of these? Does anyone know if you run it all winter? I'm drydocked in Jersey. Do they really work? If you do use it all year, would you open up your bildge, or keep it closed up? What's your view on this?
Have a Happy New Year!

Re: West Marine Turbo Dryer Dehumidifier

I was hoping to get one from Santa.Guess I will have to get it myself.I planned on using it in my cabin.I am going to leave it on top of my stove and leave it on all winter. It has a thermostat to turn it on and off.Dont know if it is necessary for a bilge.I will keep it plugged in to gfi outlet to minimize any chance of a problem.Charlie

Re: West Marine Turbo Dryer Dehumidifier

hi,
i use a dehumidifier in my ski boat, and my dad uses one in his sail boat, they do keep the boat very dry and mildew etc is never a problem after using one. i put mine on every now and again to keep it dry, my dads one has a humidity setting so when it gets more humid the thing turns itself on. the bilge is usually closed on mine but what i do is put some nappies in the bilge, they soon collect any water that is lying around.

si
