I posted yesterday for help, still having no luck, both coils and power pack replaced. checked out carbs, fuel spray looks to be the same on all cylinders. when throttle down to idle motor quits. 1983 evinrude 115hp. Doing spark test all checks out? What am i missing?

Its a problem when you start new threads, we can't find your original, you can click on your profile and find all posts by you.
Keep it all together so we can review what the problem is and what you have done.

You say spark tests ok, thats a bit sketchy, how did you test,
what was the gap?
a sparkplug is not a spark test,
no-one knows what you are doing or if you know how a spark test is supposed to be done.

Looking into the throats doesn't say anything about the idle circuits in the carb, I would order rebuild kits, a factory manual and rebuild them.
Check the link/sync , get a gap tester and make sure the spark jumps 7/16th inch or whatever your manual says.

contaminated carbs, ethanol poisoning. compression check. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=299680

I have checked the compression myself and at the shop. All looks good. At the shop as well they check the spark after the power pack and coil replacements, spark was good. However cylinders #1&3 port side, do not heat up like the other side, indicating that there is a lack of combustion/spark or what ever the case.

Hard to tell from your description if the side of the engine is running cool due to a thermostat that is stuck open, or a non-firing situation. Try putting an inductive timing light on each of the spark plug leads when the engine is under load in the water. See if you get any misfires or no fires first. There are other ignition componets, such as the stator and timer base which can cause problems. Have you checked them for output? A laser temp gun will tell you whether both sides of the block are heating up properly-temps at the heads should run 143-155 degrees at idle.

Spark was "present" or spark was good ?? Good means a mighty blue crackler bridging a good size gap. Present means there was one.

Spark was good. Notes from Marina mechanic: "No spark Starboard side, good spark port side, comp all good, installed PP on st. side now has spark to # 1 top, replace coil on #3 bottom now has spark to all cyl. run engin-has idle issue-seems to run better @ higher RPMS, checked carbs all seam OK, checked possible reed issues, none seen." A friend of mine that works at another marina mentioned the stator, and a switch from the stator? I guess my thing now is to check OHMS in that system.

my thought was i might be out of time, i checked the book and tried to set the idle timming up but had no success because it would not idle, i can run it however @ about 2k rpms but it doesnt give me a chance to time it properly. i have a laser temp light and theres alot of difference, judging by the amout of fuel on the plug when i pull them, i would want to believe that it simply is not firing in time. or there is a problem with the ignition somewhere. I will be checking the stator for ohms when the rain stops again. Thank you all for your support.
