Found an interesting aid for sanding/wet sanding. Apologies if someone has found this one before. Necessity is the mother of invention.

While wet sanding my hull and looking for something better than a regular sanding block (cramps my hands and can't handle odd areas, I stumbled upon an ideal item for the job. It was a common item that most with kids and/or pools likely have around. Am appropriate length of a Fun Noodle makes a great sanding block. Just wrap the paper around it and go. It contours to odd areas, yet still gives a reasonably flat surface for sanding. It is also a great fit for my hand. I sanded the entire bottom of my 15' tri-hull with no hand cramps.

While this tip may be worth what you paid for it  , hopefully it helps someone out there

That's a new one to me. I have a couple of noodles in the garage and will try it.

Another tip...sand the areas with 45 degree angle stokes to prevent dishing. This is how the pros get perfect surfaces on plugs and molds.

Re: Wet sanding trick

Jason, I hope I can post this link. For years I have used 3M sponges made for wet sanding. I owned a detail shop years ago and had a contract with a large body shop to wet sand/ buff/ detail every car that they did. Also with a marina to do all their boats. These little pads are the best, especially for boats because they're not stiff rubber ( more like your noodle idea). I,m sure you can pick them up at any automotive paint supplier.

web page
