looking at a 8 h.p yamy 4 stroke , i have a 14' seanymph about 150 lbs. now when i was talking to this guy about what i have for a boat he was very forward about say that the 8 h.p isn't enough h.p and alls it will do is sag the *** end down and the bow up when all full trottle with no planing , i don't think i will plane but you think that will happen? lately i've been asking question on this topic other than here and been getting the run around. it's either a 6 or an 8 anything more will be to heavy to lift myself.

what do you think.

The nature of a boat is to have the bow rise until the boat goes on plane after which the bow comes down. If an engine isn't big enough to get a boat on plane, yes, the stern will plow a hole in the water. Thats the nature of the beast. To keep the boat level off plane you simply run at half throttle or so which gets really boring if you are iin a hurry to get to your fishing hole. In your situation you might consider a 9.9 two stroke instead of a four stroke.
