Finally had the day that every Obsolete Marine Contraption (OMC) owner waits for... the tilt motor puked without warning. No big deal right? Just unbolt the quadrant gear and raise 'er up by hand. Just grab the 9/16 socket, ratchet and extension...

...which are sitting in the toolkit at home! Guess I should have gone over my checklist better.

After an hour of sitting (this was 11PM) I manage to acquire such items and fight with 3 horribly corroded bolts and get the drive up.

I'm surely glad it was late at night so I had plenty of time on the ramp to mess with it.

And I'll never leave without my toolkit again!

Yes, KH, thanks for the reminder. I forgot my toolkit last time out and I guess that's always the time when you'll need it!

Buy a military ammo can(.50 caliber) to store all that stuff in and leave it in the boat. Mine includes my boat/trailer registration, qt. of oil, measuring bottle, extra drain plug, spark plugs, cheap poncho's, disposible camera , knife, spare rope, and some tools. The cans are waterproof and unless loaded with very heavy item's will float.

Well, with OMC, it's not a question of will it happen, but when!
