Whale Tale Removal

I removed a whale tale that some one else had installed on a stern drive I removed from another boat and have installed on mine. The 4 holes, 2 per side, are still in the plate. Do I need to fill them, or are they ok to leave without do anything?

They won't hurt anything.

If anything, especially if you boat in salt. Just clean up the holes and paint over any exposed aluminum.

If you wish to fill the holes you can (or not). For holes that small you can use epoxy. Either epoxy putty or something like JB Weld, just use a piece of wax paper held in place with a piece of making tape on the bottom of the hole, and fill. When hard, sand and paint. Works fine.

I installed 4 aluminum pop rivets on my 25HP outboard to fill the holes
