The '00 Key West 1720 center console with a 115 Evinrude Ocean Pro I bought last year came with a Michigan Wheel 14 x 19 aluminum. I recently purchased a used 13 x 19 OMC Stainless Steel a few weeks ago and then I found (what I thought was) a deal on a NEW OMC stainless 13-7/8 x 19 so I picked it up also.

With the Michigan Wheel 14 x 19, I would get 5200 RPM and maybe 42-43 MPH according to GPS @ WOT with just me on board. With the OMC 13 X 19 I get right at 5500 RPM and 47 MPH @ WOT. I have not even tried the 13-7/8 x 19 because I figure it will be right back where the 14 x 19 AL was...maybe worse since the stainless is cupped...Right? Or do you think I would get better fuel economy & cruising speed with it?

Anyway, I'm ecstatic! :D Just don't know whether to sell the 13-7/8 or keep it as a spare, spare. WWYD?

At least try it! Cupped props will usually take more trim so if you are not running the engine at full out trim now, you may be able to with the cupped prop. It may actually give you a slight increase in performance--then again, it might not. But, what have you got to lose? You already own it.

As suggested a cupped prop will allow more trim;but you also will likely be able to raise the motor on the transom with more cup.In the extreme raising the motor could add a couple of mph.
Raising the motor lowers drag which can improve mileage.
The cupped prop will likely have lower slip numbers which could improve mileage.
Usually any improvement in mpg is so small its difficult to measure without a flow meter.
When a prop or setup improves the speed it is generally throughout the rpm range so you save fuel by getting there quicker at various throttle settings.

I forgot to add that the 13 x 19 ss IS a cupped prop also. I can now trim the motor up pretty far before it ventilates. I guess I'll slap the larger one for kicks and giggles and see what happens. But I really do like the "easy" cruising speed of 33 mph at ~4000 RPM.

G-money,

Do you have the id number for your prop. I am in the exact same siuation, I have a totally different boat Four winns horizon but I do run a evinrude 115, its a 1996- but can only get 41-42 mph at 5200 rpm with the Michigan wheel 13x19 ss prop I run. I know all props on different boats are different but man would I like to see 400 rpm gain and 2mph if I tried the omc prop. Thanks

The stainless OMC that is on there is #389510.
The Michigan Wheel I took off is #011025.
The new stainless OMC I have not tried yet is #176573

Hope this helps!
