Re: What a joke

Cool your jets mate.

A few things:
1: Maybe keep all your concerns to one thread for a start.
2: Be patient, we're not all here to tend to your needs and requests
3: Would you like us to all chip in and buy you a box of tissues?

Re: What a joke

What I find is that people will not reply to a post unless they can really offer some help. Typically, folks won't post to something that they don't quite understand, and they will leave it to the 'next' guy.

Often, when trying to describe something, a picture is most helpful, and will tend to prompt more responses. Othewsie the description of a situation, although clear to the original poster, may not be clear to the folks reading the post.

So, if you post something with little/no response chances are (1) it is a very little known issue . . . or (2) the description of the issue is confusing and could probably be better described with the help of some pictures, etc.

Re: What a joke

I looked at your posts, the problem is your motor may not be that common among users here, if most are like myself, they run older motors. My newest motor here is 22 years old.

With that said: If the block is being cooled, and your not seeing water out the exhaust and you are getting water out the tell tale, then are your running it on muffs or in a tank? Muffs simply may not supply enough water to see it out the exhaust?
If the w/p impeller was old, then the insufficient water that may have been getting to the block would be overheated in that there most likely wasn't enough water there to cool the block sufficiently. Now your pumping more water but still may not have enough to blow excess out the exhaust bypass port.
Did you try it in a tank? Most of my motors won't even put out a decent tell tale above idle on muffs, let alone seeing much out the exhaust port. Other than to flush out a motor after a day in the salt, I don't run them on muffs, and its usually not recommended to run any motor above idle on muffs.

Also, did you check the basics like the thermostat, does the motor use a poppet or bypass valve that could be stuck?
(Especially if that's a saltwater motor).

Sorry you feel that way..........BUT considering the time difference between Australia and the US ............ people here are usually concentrating on their own issues.

Be patient and wait for the FREE advice or demonstrate how impatient you can be and go to a mechanic and spend allot of money.

Similar to the speed a mechanic works......... if you do not like the speed that the mechanic is working........ you will absolutely hate the other speed.

Yamaha motors are NOT as popular as Mercury or Johnson/Evinrude so there are less people lending free advice.

Exactly. This forum is populated by members who like to help IF THEY CAN, when they have time to hang around here. When you write in on a Saturday night you'll probably be affected by the fact that a few of us actually have a life outside the forum.

If you came here to 'demand service in a timely manner', you're in the wrong place. That's your mistake, not ours. You need to go to a site that charges for troubleshooting advice. There's one I used when I had a problem with a Johnson outboard that nobody here could answer. Got my answer in a couple hours, and if I recall correctly it only cost me $14.95.

Good luck!

Did you try researching your answer in the archives?... or did you simply post your question and kick-back and wait for someone to serve you with an answer?

Most of the time questions are answered on here, sometimes they are not... what were you expecting for free, a rubber biscuit?

The only joke here is your attitude.

Re: What a joke

I check this forum a lot during the week b/c I'm at my computer but not on the weekend nearly as often. Others probably a whole lot less. I don't recall seeing your questions.

Also where did you post? The best place to post for OB is in the "non-repair OB" section even if it's a repair, rather than the brand specific. I check that one all the time; Johnson/evinrude often b/c my old Johnson is both giving me problems and one I know a lot about. even though I also run two different Yamaha's I don't check it often b/c they don't give me trouble (newer) and I don't know much about them. I don't check Merc much b/c my merc is on a boat I am restoring so I'm not running it.

I think the forum should be set up to allow repair questions that apply to any brand--most do--in one place, like "should my telltale work on muffs". That's why people put them in the general OB forum, and the mods let it slide, unless it's like 'what's the part number for the gonkulator in a 1972 evinrude and can I use one from a 1982 motor?"

Re: What a joke

Yowiie, I see you actually started or joined this forum back in 2010. And you only have 14 posted comments in that total time. So either you haven't read too many of other people?s problems yourself and made any helpful comments to help them in subjects you are familiar with, OR you don't contribute to other folk's issues at all. So getting bent all out of shape for YOUR lack of answers is very telling. I have made lots of comments on here to assist others in areas I do know about and feel my input would help them...maybe. I also had posts/questions go unanswered as well. But I didn't go ballistic on everybody for the lack of answers. These types of sites are only as good as the folks willing to assist. And that should be anybody on subjects they do know about as well, be it a newbie or older more experienced folks. It is a give and take proposition...

Re: What a joke

I don't usually do Yammies so I never saw your original thread, and I don't usually answer nasty threads. BUT, I will be the good guy here.

As far as cooling, use a little logic! Pisser water is usually taken from the top of the head, the hottest part. Most engines use a thermostat of around 160 degrees. Your water heater at home is set to less than 130 because over 130, hot water scalds skin. Thus: On muffs or otherwise, water issuing from the pisser or exhaust will be too hot to touch when the engine warms-up

If water dribbled on the top of the block or head does not boil off, then the engine is below 212 and NOT overheating.

Re: What a joke

Actually if you are truly concerned about over heating of your outboard, they make a crayon type plastic to mark on top of the cylinder. If your motor ever over heats that crayon mark will melt showing it is over heated. Of course you can equally buy a LASER thermometer as well and simply shoot the LASER at the outboard for a direct reading of temp too. Most 2 cycle outboard engines are going to run between 160 to 170 range when operating correctly...

You have to realize this a forum not a chat room. It is not monitored 24 hours a day. People come and go and will answer you IF they think they have a solution for you.

I would just like to say that I recently joined this forum and have had great experiences with the members here. My experience seems to be the opposite of yours.
