Well what do you guys think ?? am i going to have enought epoxy?? about 2 1/2 gal ?? Is this enought fiberglass, the two out side stringers are 3.5 tall and the center is 10 inchs tall , and the two out side stringers are 10 feet long and the center is 9 feet ... think I am going over board on the glass , the two out side stringers I can use one 10 foot piece and cut it in two , with it being 50 inchs wide , really only need it to be about 16 inchs in with, and thats with a 4inch layout on the hull on each side !!! the center has to be 22 inchs in with , I can allways use the extra on the deck , right !! man with the shipping it going to be over 500, Ok so I could use some input , Thanks John

Hi John, That U.S. Composites list has some great prices. The 7.5 gallon epoxy kit works out to $31 + shipping a gallon. Is this epoxy suitable for marine applications? Has anyone out there used this product before? This might be a great find for me.Jim

Cool Jim , the best prices I have found and the shipping perrty good too!!! There's a place out in cal, there on ebay, that has 4 gal for 120.00 but the shipping is 52 dallors to Mi, so 172.00 this stuff is rated for marine grade, so I am going to win at USComposite think its 118.oo and shipping is 36.00 there!!! glass is a ok price !!! I am just going to get everthing here next week !!! John

There's a couple of things I can add that may help.

The epoxy still has to be measured out even though the pumps are used. Personally I tossed them.

The company will roll your glass and roving if you prefer rather than folding.

Maybe you've used it, but a cut sheet on paper...writing in the sizes of wood to be sawn...and re-arranging to make the best use of the full sized panel...can save on waste and scraps.

That's an impressive list of materials. I've had very good luck with us composites: quality, careful packing, you name it.

Good Luck and let us know how you make out.

Enjoy

One item I'd like to ask about - why get thick epoxy? For fillets or something?

Generally all the marine epoxies you use are thin, so you can wet out fiberglass correctly. Thick ones don't work so well there.
