What am I Forgetting

I am removing my 4.3 V6 to be replaced with a fresh engine and I have everything unhooked, but for some reason, the engine will not disconnect from the shaft. The shaft is stuck in the coupler, is there a snap ring or something up in there? I can wiggle and jiggle and lift and shake the motor but the shaft will not come out, I have EVERYTHING unbolted, the flywheel housing, motor mounts. I even took the outdrive off the gimbal. Are there any tricks I am forgetting or do I need to give up and cut the shaft with a torch, if so, how much do you think I am looking at for a new one. Any ideas would be great cause I am getting ready to fire up the torch or the saw.

Sounds like corrosion has it stuck cause nobodys been greasing the shaft. Try PB blaster. Dont cut the drive shaft. Id heat the coupler and ruin it first.

yea that what i figured, you think i can melt the rubber in the coupler with a torch and get it out? The coupler is already falling apart (the metal on the outside) from rust so I need a new one anyway. I'll try that. I hope I don't blow up from the gas fumes though!!!!
