I've got a 2006 Mercury 3.0L Sterndrive. Like an genius I inadvertently crossed the positive and negative cables... first time in 10+ years. Anyway, I blew the square "lawyer fuse" as I've heard it called. It connects to the electrical post on the starter solenoid. I can't find the amperage anywhere on this thing, even after complete disassembly. Anyone have any idea how to determine the correct amperage for it? I do know there are more than one possible amperage for it. The S/N to my engine is OW330527, manufactured in March of 2005. Thanks!

Its rated at 90A , overkill . I use a 60Amp Maxi Fuse in place of it.While your there remove the Red wire from the lawer fuse and connect it directly to the main post. You dont need a 90A then a 50A circuirt breaker in series to protect the engine and boat wiring
You may also have blown the diodes in the alt so check it too

I blew mine a few weekends back, I went with the Mercruiser 90A and it cost me around $25. I knew a cheaper option existed but I had a ton of work to do so it was an easy way to get back on track.

When you have to maybe take off an exaust manifold to change that darn thing ,a Maxi -Fuse is a whole lot easier
