just curious as to all the reasons for no water coming out of peehole...on 1990's 25hp evinrude
changed water pump, blew out the water pipe in the leg...the copper one... blew out the rubber hose from the engine block that discharges out the motor, still no water...motor sat for 5 years...any thoughts of anything else? could bad thermostat be not opening and letting water thru? other ideas?
tx all...you are always a great help

usually its a mud wasp nest.

have you verified the pee hose is clear by feeling the air exiting the other end , while you apply air to the other?

your water pump may not be pushing enough water to make pressure to force it out..... there are enough places for the water to exit for the little pressure you might have.....ie...exhuast ports.

or you might have blockage in the block....but that is rarer.

also you might not have any thermostats in the motor.......they usually restrict the flow raising pressure...

pee hole clear...getting air... wonder about something living in there... where do the mud wasps go in the system...? what would i check to clean out if it were bees? the copper tube in the leg was clear also... wonder if it's in the block? if so, how hard is it to clean that out???UGH!
one last question also.. am i to assume the cylinders are in good shape if i did compression test and got 125 in ea. cyl. and the motor started up on first pull with new plugs in it?
thx so much for helping

have you removed the thermostat cover to verify there is IN FACT a thermostat installed?

My question is similar however when I initially started the motor up I got plenty of water out the "pee hole", I shut it down and started it again and got nothing but vapor. I have an '83 ,25hp 2 stroke, which I have just purchased a t-stat and new water pump assy for, and am planning on replacing them when they get here. The tube for the discharge (pee hole) is clear so I am hoping it is one of those two things that I mentioned. Unfortunately the stat is not one that you can get to with 4 bolts. You have to take offf the whole end cover to get at it so I hope when I do replace it I wont have to do it again for a while.

I had this exact problem with my Mercury. And it was a Mud Wasp nest plugging the water pump hose. I will be keeping an eye on this from now on.
