What are all of these parts for in the Thermostat Kit?

Hello,

Looking at the Mercury Marine Thermostat Kit 807252T 4 and comparing it with other diagrams I can't tell where everything goes.

The attached picture below has the parts labeled 1 through 6. Looking at the diagrams it appears that they would be installed, from the top:

- Steel Lifting Hook
- Steel Cover
- Gasket #1 (although I think that my existing t-stat has #4 here)
- Steel Sleeve
- T-Stat #2
- O-Ring #3
- Steel Housing
- Gasket #5 (I think my existing t-stat has more of a #4 here)

Which way does the t-stat get installed? Spring down or up?

Does gasket #5 go on between the manifold and t-stat housing?

Do gaskets #4 and #6 get used?

Thanks.

Depends on how may hoses you have on the housing, this is for 6 hoses
1 gasket
spacer collar
2 thermostat ,spring facing down
3 "O" ring
5 between housing and intake manifold
can you post a pic of your housing

Thanks Doc,

I do have the 6-hose housing. I've now removed it and have the new t-stat into it and here are a couple of pictures. I'm surprised at how well the housing looks for being off a 20yr old engine.

By the way, one sensor for temp gauge, what is the other one for?

Happy Holidays.

The sensor is most likely for the hi-temp alarm system, also ones for no-oil, and low- drive oil
