Patience Grasshopper! Odds are the threads in the pin are to attach a puller to it for removal, just about all the pins on heavy equipment have threaded holesfor that purpose. As far as the scale on the brakets, it is just a reference of where you are in the trim range. Never had a motor with a trim gauge, or a scale like that, but I think it is a good idea.

Re: what are these on tilt trim

Ok patience is good. I had posted earlier and some how I posted the same photo 3x's and by the time I could get to it to delete the deleted one keep popping up ahead of everything and I figured my new post might be confused for the old one. I also thought this might be for a puller to help remove the pin. As far as the markings I have never seen this on any other motor. I am about to rebuild my tilt trim as it is leaking around the wiper seal and believe it or not no one wants to rebuild it here in Fort Worth. But will be happy to sell you a new one for $1000.00 +.
Thanks for the reply.

If you have an OEM Factory Service manual and a few special tools it's easy to repair.
