Well, it's that time of year again. (Obviously, you lucky guys that live where it's warm all year don't have to wait until next year:rolleyes:)
I winterized the boat Saturday and the wife and I started making our list of things for the winter and next spring.
We are ordering a swim platform and smart tabs:D. Having the bow seats reupholstered. We are going to buy a couple new props. Then next spring take it to the body shop and have the new goodies put on and have a few chips in the hull repaired and get new bunks put on the trailer.
What are your guys' plans for the winter? Rebuilding/restoring, making a wish list, just wait for next spring?

I had a great idea for my boat and the snowy winter....

I figured I would just leave the cover off and let it fill up with snow...then when I get enough I will gather it up and build a Large x Huge Snow Man to sit in the driver seat...decorate it all up...make some stick Reindeer and use rope to make them look like they are pulling the boat...

Great idea huh?

got a little 12 foot jon boat too...so I might do something with that too...

That's too funny. :D
I was actually thinking at first it was a joke. Picturing a bow rider left out, then I as soon as I saw the 12' jon, I snapped out of it and pictured that in my 14'er.
I have a 10' Vee I just inherited, I might have to try it:p. Use those metal frame light up deer and some rope light to make the reigns and a big cane pole in santas hands.
I think you're on to something there.

I hope you got a moon burn:p:D;)

My grandma has a beach house in Sarasota that my uncle is staying in. He has been on me for a few years to bring the boat down some November and hang out on the bay for a couple weeks. Maybe not a bad idea. Just don't like the thought of salt water in my engine.

My Wellcraft has a few soft spots on the deck and plan on doing the entire deck early next spring but for over the winter I plan on redoing the center console, it was really hacked up when I bought and repaired it with starboard, but I want to redo the face with fiberglass so it will look like the day it came from Wellcraft.........

Do the motor winterising thing, put the outfit at the side of the garage, clear out everything in there, vac the interior, apply mothballs and downy sheets all over the interior, put the winter cover on and the big tarp over that then look forward to spring !!!!

Why not just take your present prop off and have it reconditioned. No need to get TWO NEW props.

I can't stand the thought of winter. I've got about 3 boating weeks left before the lakes begin to freeze. Then wrap her up and put her away till around the first of may.

Cool wife. Not to many take interests in this boat thing. Good for you. She's a keeper.

No..I'm serious....

it's a 20ft I/O with a Merc 888....

Last time I did my 79 4x4...I had a 9 inch lift and 38s and I parked it in the front yard and I have one of those plastic light up Santas...I plugged the Santa in and placed it in the front drivers seat....I got White rope lights and made a road by put a 50ft strand on each side...then I got some 10ft rotating ones and put them on the tires to make it look like it was going down the road...

was cool as hell....

This boats only a couple months old, I have 7- 8 good weeks of fishing left. Then I will winterize it, wax it, and get to work mounting some new rod holder track, a net holder, Some tool holders for my Boga Grip and Pliers, a Yamaha T8 kicker motor, possibly an 8' VHF antenna if I can find the perfect location for it on an 18'6" boat.

Re: What are your plans for the boat this winter?

How do you winterize a boat? Why do you winterize a boat? Nobody ever told me anything about that . . . Well, considering it will probably be in the 60's on Christmas where I live, I plan on using the boat every weekend. The only thing that sucks is the bay water gets down to 55, so you don't wanna get in there. It's still about 70 in the afternoons though, at the coldest time in Florida. You can still sit on the beach, or definitely go fishing year round.

I need to do quite a bit, the bracket holding the fuel filter came off, the ski locker drain is clogged, mainly just a bunch of small stuff that would only take a day or so.

I was trying to buff the boat in between trips to Ohio, but not enough time. The stains got so bad and were left on so long that I have to use three different compounds. It isvery time consuming.

I need to find and purchase a boat... then I'll take it fishing through the fall and winter, until the spring run next year... then I'll REALLY fish it some more! :D

It's going to have to sit for now until I get a garage to work on her in, then it's roll up my sleeves and put a new exhaust Y-pipe in and might as well do the bellows and gaskets while I am at it. Been keeping my eye out for a garage.

Back to the dealer for some touch ups.
Moving the motor up one notch.
Reseal scuppers and covers.
Installing my new bimini.
Carb cleaning and set up.
Of course most of this will be done round about the time fishing season opens. Except the bimini that can wait till it gets warm. :)
