I have a 09 nissan 50 hp tldi, the manual callc for 850cca or 100cca. The biggest battery I find local is a 800cca-1000mca. Is this battery OK, or do I need to still be in search. Can I tie 2 batterys together to get the cranking amps I need. I need some advise or some ideas!

Most any group 24 marine battery will serve your purposes.

That will work fine but it's overkill for a 50HP outboard.

The cca should be a 1000 or as close to it as you can get. Like Optimax or HPDI, Tohatsu/Nissan TLDI's require a large battery to initialize the ignition system of the engine. You don't need a 1000 on it to start and run correctly if the battery is new, the wiring is new and the temp is right, but, things get worse and if you start out with a 1000 you can probably get three years out of the battery before you need to replace it. Starting out with an 850(for example) would put you down below the minimum within a year or so.

Any major brand of flooded Marine Starting battery should have a 1000 cca battery in a group-27, and many will have them in group-24 sizes. El-cheapo brands at big box stores may not have these specs.

Automotive batteries would work, short term, but are not designed for the marine environment, don't have the expected terminals for the ring connectors on the outboards (so need adapter terminals) and usually suffer premature death due to slamming and vibration.

Yes, you can parallel two identical batteries, if needed, to get total cca where you need it. Be sure they are the same size, type, age, and manufacturer, or they will be constantly in a different state of charge, and one of them will suffer an early fatality. If you do that, be sure that you use appropriate wire and connectors between the paralleled batteries.
