What are the battery requirements for a Merc 5.0 EFI, 260 hp? I need one and have no reference.

The biggest battery you can fit in it. I use Interstate srm-29's (2 of them).

a lawn mower battery will start it but you can't have too much battery on a boat... I have 4 of them.... as above a 550 will do but if you are gonna have just one get the biggest dual purpose battery you can fit/afford

I recommend the biggest battery that will fit. if you have only room for a single battery, then I suggest one of the combination deep cycle / starting batteries.

Biggest battery(s) money can buy. Not many folks carry jumper cables on their boats. Get a selector switch too. Separate your house from your starter!
