Hello I just bought my first boat and cannot seem to figure out what it is. I did find this number hiding in the back jdb6c4350778. Will this boat work with a 1991 johnson 48 spl (traded on cl)?

sure, it has an 80hp mercury on it. I'm worried it is too big so would like to get a smaller engine. the boat is 16ft fiberglass.

16' with an 80 Mercury shouldn't be a problem as long as the hull is rated for it. Those numbers appear to be the Hull Identification Numbers and if so like it's a 1978 year. Yes, your pictures did not work. Do a search through this site on posting pictures.

my transom does have an extra diagonal bar so it seems strong, but how can I find out if the hull is rated for it? I called the guy I purchased it from and he said it is a Dory.
