when i rip up the flooring in that 87 bass tracker that I am redoing? Lots of foam, supports etc.? Sorry i am new to this and am starting to replace the decking and flooring this week. I noticed when I took the floor drain cover out (next to the console) it was foam.

Thanks

Not sure about Trackers specifically, but generally aluminum hulls will have foam and aluminum stringers that tie in the deck to the hull. I'm guessing you have spray-in foam which is a bit more difficult to deal with, especially if it's waterlogged.

Some(like my '79 Starcraft) had solid sheets of foam from the factory but the industry switched to spray for unkown reasons(probably cheaper).

Good news is...tin cans are MUCH easier to work on than 'glass and you will be able to replace the foam with closed-cell that doesn't absorb water.

Check the pictures in my resto link below if you want to see some examples of what you may see. Any late 80s Sea Nymph/Starcraft/Sylvan restoration thread should be close to what you can expect.

I ripped up some larger areas of my 87' Tracker and re-did quite a bit of the foam. Wasnt that hard to remove the old stuff. Good luck with your project!
