What can I use to clean the lower unit?

OK, I left the motor down , in the water all season. Now that I pulled the pontoon out, the motor looked like it had a grass skit on it!

I was able to get it off the pontoons with a wire brush, power washer, and lots of elbow grease. But how can I get it off the motor, so it looks black again?

I tired that Zing full strength, it just smoked and killed the grass the motor is over, but it did not remove the stuff!

Perhaps I can dunk the motor in a big vat of something to make this stuff come off. ( I can just imagine what the insides of the water intakes look like!) ? Perhaps Coke. I remember what that did to a penny! (or was that the old formula!?).

I will never leave a motor sitting in the water all season again!

Any ideas?!!

Start scrubbing! That'll be the last time you do that!

Ya, well, I already stated that!!!! I just found another thread with the same question ( and his pic of the motor looked worse than mine!)

I will try a scrub pad, then re-paint the lower unit as needed. ( I will be selling this)

Anyone want to by a re-built pontoon?

Yeah you'll definitely need to repaint a good portion of the LU once it's cleaned up. Just comes with the territory.
