Impellor is fried, probably didnt over heat the motor, but anyway, it was not a good idea to do that.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!???
OMG, I ran my motor for like 45 Sec to a minute the other day...was the first time I ran it in a long time...but then I took it out and water was coming out of the little water hole....so I guess the impeller didn't get damaged...or did it?...I mean...if the water hole is throwing warm water that means that the water pump is fine.....right?...please advide...I really don't know much about thing

thanks

Its like this, the impellor is rubber. The case that the impellor sits in is lined with metal. Have you ever taken a pencil eraser and rubbed it on a piece of steel? Try it, that is what happened to your impellor. It is possible for it to still work, but do you really want to chance it when you are a mile or two from the boat ramp? Impellor $14, New engine rebuild, atleast $1800, knowing that your impellor is in good shape, Priceless.

Its easy to start melting the impeller and it still pump water. Just a very few seconds is all it takes to damage the impeller. Best look at it and prepare to change.
:)

Nathan is on top of this one, the impellers are history, might as well get kits and take care of the problem. It only takes 10 seconds or less without water to damage enough to cause problems.
