What did I just buy

Purchased a starcraft boat with a 75hp Mercury outboard. Motor runs great but the PTT is inoperable. The serial number of the motor is A16X8315 anyone know how the decipher it? Where is a good place to get a service manual. I've always owned OMC outboards in the past... Well I do own a 15 HP mariner never needed a manual for it the thing just keeps puring like a kitten.

Also how the heck do I get the motor to tilt manually?

As for manual tilt. There should be a standard screw type valve on the starboard side of the mounting bracket. Turn it one way to operate manually and the other to use the pump, can't remember which way does what though. It's a 50/50 chance.

Thanks that is it exactly. I couldn't make heads or tales out of the links I found to figure out the year by serial number. I figured it was an 86 but 85 makes sense too!

Awesome you guy's are life savers...

Where is the best place to purchase a Mercury Operators and Service manual for this motor? Or as far as the service manual is one of the after markets job a better route to go. I know with OMC its always better to get the factory manuals.
