I was wondering what the differences are between the 2005 & 2006 model E-Tec ( 90Hp) engines are.

I need to get a new engine and am leaning towards the E-Tec but 2006 models are around 7000$ while 2005 models you can get for about 6500$.

Is it worth paying 500 more for the 2006 or 2007 model ?

I won't be able to get the 3 year waranty since I will be exporting the engine to Europe,

Thanks,
Stef

as with anything else your going to pay more for the "current" model year. Your paying 500 dollars more because its an 06' model, not because there is a difference. the 05's are now considered leftovers as they are now 1 model year old.

Make sure it has all the update to the thottle cam, there was problems (RPM jumping) with the older ones. You say you are not going to be able to get warranty, why not? Here in the states they are offering up to 6 years on the promotions. Are they that much more expensive there? Shipping must be out of sight, I would check to make sure you can import it before ordering.

Well A 90Hp E-Tec engine costs here 10.999€ that is about 13,960.51 USD so you get my drift...

Shipping an engine like this is about 500$ over sea and then ad another 1000 to 1500 on taxes and dutie.

so you see at most it wil cost me about 9000 USD when it is here.

But apparently if I buy an engine in the US it has domestic warranty... and BRP will not give warranty in Europe even if you have it installed by an official dealer.
( That is what I heard, I can't find an e-mail adres of anybody at BRP that might give me answers)

Even if the engines are completly identical US and EU version...

The thing is here in Europe if the word boat is involved you get ripped of majorly, just look at prices for an engine.

So the best I would do is ask the shop where I buy it from to open the box and check if all the updates have been made ?

Thanks.

if all the updates were done the difference is a 5 or a 6. in the number.

The differences are minimal, just be sure that the latest software upgrade is loaded in by the dealer. I think it is dated January 2006.
