I just recently bought a 1981 (I think) Chrysler 85HP. The model is 850HIC and serial number is 1070.
It looks brand new inside and outside of the cowl. It was never used and kept in a heated and cooled garage since day 1.
It cranks instantly, idles and shifts perfect and runs like a scalded dog. Your opinions on this motor would be appreciated.
Are there points inside the distribiutor? The cap say "Mallory" and I pulled the cap off and look upward above the rotor button and saw no points but I did see a small black device where I thought points would be. If I do have the "pointless" system, is it more or less dependable than the ones with breaker points? This motor is so clean and in such a new like condition, it really could be in a museum.
Thanks
Rick
