Hi Guys!

I am looking to remove my bottom paint. It is 1 layer thick, and 28 years old, which is making removing it easy, I can wash it off with a sponge in most places. So, my question is, once I get all the bottom paint washed off, what do I seal the bottom with, and what is the best way to apply it so it looks good? Thanks!

Do you mean, Anti Fouling type "Bottom Paint" or just Paint for the Hull of your boat! There's quite a bit of difference between the two. If you're just re-painting the Hull, check out the the last link in my signature.

Thanks for the link!!

I am looking to remove the bottom paint and reseal the gel coat, I didn't know if there was something clear out there? I'll have a look at your link when I get home from work. So far, I have been recommended to use Innerprotect by Interlux. It is about $100/Gal.

Ayuh,.... Is this a dock queen, or trailer boat,..??

yer 'bout 200 miles from any saltwater, so bottom paint really isn't necessary...

Dock Queen...that's funny! No, she's a trailer boat.

It doesn't need sealing, so whatever you put on the bottom...if anything... is totally up to you. Cosmetics is the only concern.

for trailer'd boats, you can use many of the topsides paints, as long as she doesn't sit in the water for than a few days or a week. My boat is 22' and i sanded the bottom and put on 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of topside paint...only used about 1/2 gallon of each
