ok i took my boat out for its maiden voyage today and thing went well just need to know if im doing well or missing performance anywhere. first off boat felt great just seeing what ya'll might think. its a 1976 starcraft super sport 22' outboard. powered by a 1977 evinrude 140 hp. have a 15 hp 2 stroke kicker on the starboard side tilted up obviously when running. we had 3 adults and one child minimal gear. 15 gallons of gass in the boat and 2 12 volt batteries. also the main engine is mounted on a cmc pt-130 power tilit trim which sets the engine back 6 inches and raises 2-3 .
okay out of the hole this thing is a rocket IMO and comes to 5500 rpm fairly quickly! top speed on semi smoot water a slight ripple. was 33.6-34.0 on the gps. now once up i can barely trim up the engine at all and the rpms will rise. its basically all the way down. raising it will gain 50-100 rpm quickly. but not much speed wise. first off is 34 on the gps a good speed for this boat? could i prop a lil more pithc lose a lil bottom end but gain a top end while still mantain my wot 5500 rpm? thoughts?
