My ex-wife didn't like boating. That's why she's an ex.
Honestly, I feel pretty lucky here. Although I'm more of a type A personality and she's on the shy side, we pretty much like the same things (boating and travel at the top of the list). We'd both much rather do things together; "me time" isn't high on either of our priority lists (although since we don't have kids to deal with we can do that whenever we like).
The funny thing is, on the surface we are TOTAL opposites:
I grew up in a Marine Corps family, very patriotic, conservative to a fault and have continued to work in that kind of environment in my adult life. She grew up in the Soviet Union. The red scourge. My father in law is STILL a party member. Yet somehow it works for us.....
Someone mentioned shared values, money, spending.....that sort of thing. We do share that. Given our success (10 years so far) I'd say that was important.
We both love our dogs so I'm going with that. The ex was a cat person.
