What do you clean your hull with?

Just purchased my first aluminum (painted) boat and was wondering what everyone on here cleaned their hulls with? I have always used vinegar and water, does the same apply for the painted aluminum or am I missing the wonder cleaner? Something that will give the paint shine and make the paint last longer.

Re: What do you clean your hull with?

I boat the upper mississippi regularly and when I pull my boat out it has a brown water line. I found that the only thing that makes it white again is using some toilet bowl cleaner. It has to have the ingredient hydrogen chloride. I put it in a spray bottle and cut down with water to get more out of the bottle. It's much cheaper than buying commercial boat hull cleaners. I've tried everything from powerwashing to scubbing as hard as I can. Once you spray the toilet bowl cleaner on there it does all the work, you just wipe it off and its bright white!

Not sure how it will make the paint last, I buff the crap out of my hull during the season. Makes things shine and protects it.

Hope that helps
Jim

Muratic acid will remove most water stains from fiberglass and painted surfaces. Be careful with that stuff though.
