I think it MIGHT be great or it MIGHT be hiding lots of rotten wood underneath.... Worth looking into but I would be looking to bring the price down quite a bit.

Motor is 1986-87. It could be worth $1500 alone.

How many winters do you want to work on it and how much money are you willing to spend? Most get bored with these quickly and the market is small. Doubt you would get much more than the asking price in good condition.

Re: What do you guys think?

The trick with project boats is that you want to buy them for as little as possible. Unless of course it is a model that is rare or a model that you are really after. Just because of the fact that you never know what you are going to run into once you get started. Especially with older glass boats.

For instance, late last fall I bought a 1988 Alumacraft Classic 16 as a project, paid much more than I really wanted to but it was what I was looking for and in the condition I was looking for it also included a whole bunch of expensive goodies that I would have added anyways.

So if you are truely looking for a project boat and this is the type hull you want and the money isn't an issue then buy it. But if it's that it looks cool and might be fun to do then I suggest thinking long and hard. I am seeing more often on craigslist boats that someone bought to rebuild then lost interest or didn't realize what they were getting into and are unfinished.

Advantage here is that it is a complete boat, says to run and looks like there is current or recent registration on it.

I would be willing to spend some cash to get it looking/running good, but I will not be breaking the bank. I do not plan on making any money on it, it would just be a hobby. I will not pay asking price so if the owner does not want to bring the price down I will find something else.

Ditto - price seems a little high. But since I'm not going to be doing the work....sounds like a great project!

It seems to need quite a bit more than 'just upholstery' - looks like the carpet needs to come out....and once you do that, you may as well re-do the entire floor, foam, etc.....lots of cash to do this properly.

Re: What do you guys think?

My brother has a similar Baja boat about the same age. The stringers are completely rotted. This one looks rode hard & put up wet--left out in the elements and rotten as well.
It runs 50+mph with the 115 tower o' power
Look at it hard at the transom & stringers before shelling out $
Good Luck

My Dad's got a Merc 115 on the back of his Winner fish-n-ski. That is one awesome little motor!

I am with Aftcab. This boat has not been well taken care of. It appears it has not been covered for quite some time.
