Ive got a wellcraft 200 elite 5.7 merc. With 2 people light gear and 120 liters of fuel. 4 blade 19 pitch alum prop 1.47 gear I run 49 mph at 4600 rpm. I figure its about 12.49% slip is that a decent number? Or should i try a 17 pitch
I was thinking the same. And its a new solas i just purchased of iboatsWell... you'd be reducing pitch appx 10% in an attempt to eliminate/reduce 12.5% slip
You'd have to significantly increase RPM to gain any speed.
Check what red line is for that engine.
I think you're looking at a lower top speed (before red line) with maybe a bit better hole shot if you make the change.
It might help if you tow multiple skiers at once or when the boat is loaded with more people/stuff.
I'd wait till I needed a prop due to wear/damage and then see about borrowing demo props to fine tune. I don't think you'll gain much if anything by changing.
