What do you know about Archercraft from the 70's?

Many years ago when I was cool, many many years ago, there were two of these boats on our lake. They were the hot ticket, with a 60 hp Merc, sure made a kid with a fishing boat and a 25 pine a bit. It's now many years later and low and behold I find one of them in the woods at the lake while I'm out hiking with one my boys. I ask around a bit and find out it's one of those two from many years ago, the owner says "take it"! I've got in mind a full rebuild so my kids can ski behind it. I'm interested to find out more about these old boats. I think it's from the 70's but don't really know. I can't find a HIN anywhere, there is a USCG plate, but it's from before the standard format that we're used to.
Anyone know anything about these?
Any rebuilding tips for me? The hull is solid but for some scrapes, the plywood in the transom is gone so I'll have to split the thing.
I've got a good running '91 Evinrude 40hp for it. I know this boat has been on the bottom of the lake at least once, which I suspect was due to the 60 and teenage operators so figure a little less power is a good idea!

Welcome to the madness of boat restoration! That is a really cool boat. This is a great place to be, great info in past threads and great advice from those who will chime in over time. I think my best advice is just dig in and find out what needs to be replaced and post pics and questions as you go. I was hoping I didn't need to pop the cap off but glad I did and It wasn't as bad as I thought. Look on fiberglassics.com for info on your boat history. Good luck and keep the pics and updates coming!

Trying to find anything on this old boat seems to be a dry hole. I figured there would be more likely some tribal knowledge on this site than something published someplace. I know there are newer Archercraft flats skiff's and those are made in Florida today.
