Re: what do you think about these manuals?

For one thing, I would check to make sure the manuals are the newest part number. When Volvo first sent out the WT set of manuals, there were so many errors that the republished with a different PN and sent out the new set to all the dealers.
So you could have all kinds of problems using them even if you had a 99 engine.
The correct numbers are:
Engine-3850076
Elect/Ign./Fuel-3850077
EFI Diagnostic-3850078
If they aren't those numbers, they are worthless manuals.
I have no idea how many years they cover "Adequately" since they were only designed for the 99 model, the 98's and 00's had different manuals and I doubt many people sit around and compare one years manuals to another years while looking for differences.
What model do you have, that may make it a lot easier to determine.

My neighbor has a 1996 or 1997, so I wondered if these would be better than a Clymer or Seloc.

He needs the manuals for his year. But the factory mans are WAY better than the aftermarket manuals.

Don S-
I emailed the seller the P/N's are 3850075, 3850076, 3850077 & 3850078. Since Volvo used small block chevy's and the SX type drives seem to be similiar, I thought these might cover something from early 90's til almost the present as far as maintenance, winterizing, etc.
Thanks

Re: what do you think about these manuals?

Can someone explain Mercruiser's method of naming manuals. I have a 1995, 4.3LX Alpha-1.
Mercruiser seems to call their books Book 16, 17, etc. instead of giving a range of years. Links to manuals would be appreciated as well. Unless I know which "Book Number " to buy, e-bay is not much good.
I need to start fixing a few things myself...otherwise will be forced out of boating!! Lots of good advice on this site...Thanks contributors...

Please don't start quoting 6 month old posts, by now, one would hope he found the proper manuals. I also doubt he is still hoping for a different answer.
If you have a question. PLEASE. Just start a new thread.

can't add much about mercs , I have omc..bought a SELOC manual , I'm a former mechanic , very vague , tells you how to do major repairs , but search high and low for a simple adjustment on a cable or linkage or something like that I couldn't find it I wouldn't recomend Seloc
