Has anyone tried to put two 8' wide pontoon boats together (side by side) "semi-permately" to make one?
Just a thought that has come up a few times. It seems it can be possible (then again anything is possible)
I was just thinking installing squared "U" bolts (but more rigid) onto the pontoons themselves, perhaps square tubing slid through and bolting it down. Going the full width of both pontoon boats.
I think the only problem I would run into would be the initial lining up to slide tube through. Whether its done on the lake or on level ground.
I came up with this idea so I can tow both.
I just found a cool idea on the internet, I will try to find the link again. But basically buddy has got a regular 8' wide pontoon and 3' sides on both sides extending the width to 14' just before you back it into the lake. I guess they both cantilever up to the roof of his single story palace, and a winch is used. Sounds like a cool idea for boats that are trailered all the time.
