I bought a used Calkin trailer Model Z-14-600 and I can't license it without giving the DOL its weight. I have a plate on it that give VIN, GVWR and Max. Capacity and such but not the actual weight of the trailer. The DOL tells me I must take it to a weigh station and have it weighed but, to tow it, I need a license which I can't get until I get a weight. Okay, I can get a temporary permit to move it but to take it to a scale involves removing the boat from it, taking is across on a ferry to a town 22 miles away. Seems they don't need some certificate, just a number. It is light enough that I can pick up one wheel. What kind of number might sound reasonable? Maybe 200 lbs?
