Re: what does the anti-siphon valve do?
Just shows how many don't have a clue ! It is a check valve with a very light spring to prevent fuel from siphoning out of your tank in the event of a fuel hose /line leak filling your boat with gas and going boom at the first open air arc , switches , bilge blower motor brushes , starter solinoid , starter motor brushes . Yes it dosen't make sence that it prevents fuel from coming from your tank but with a mechanical pulsing diaphram pump it opens long enough with the light spring 1# or less to let fuel into the line for the pump to get it to carburator . This is why you can blow back to tank from fuel pump line and it has to be air tight on all plumbing as if you have a leak or air in line it won't pulse it to open to let fuel to pump because it not solid full of fuel and the air in the line compresses and fuel is not deliverid in right amounts because of this . Most common of what people thought the lines were getting vapor locked or boiling gas . From a Senior Master Tech.
