What does the hole next to the pilot hole do?

I have a totally naive question, as I am new to boating.

I have a Suzuki DF140. On the lake today I noticed that the hole to the left of the pilot hole was blowing water and smoke (the pilot hole was peeing just fine). I could swear this hole used to be capped, the cap is now gone. I can't find any info in the manual or on the web. There doesn't seem to be any loss of performance, but it does seem louder.

I just did the 20hr oil change, thats all I could think of. Also, I just went out and checked, and the oil level is a bit high.

The motor is under warrenty but the dealer is pretty far. I'd like to know more about what might be the problem before I take it back.

Thanks, Jon

The problem is that your parinoid. Thats the only problem. Its not louder its in your head. It just seemed louder after you saw the hole. Thats just my opinion.

I've looked everywhere and I can't find the parnoid. Where is it located?

Seriously, I looked around the internet and found pictures of a DF140 with the cap off, so I guess thats normal. I'm still wondering what the hole is/does. Is it like the breather cap on a car motor? I've spent a lot of time skiing behind this motor and yesterday was the first time I noticed any significant water/exhaust coming out.

that is the Exhaust pressure relief. It reduces the exhaust pressure at idle/

Thanks Rancherlee.

Is it normal to spit out water along with the exhaust?
