I just got 2 props in a box of goodies and wanted to know what they went to.
1- prop say 30 on one side and on the other says 48-87818-9
2- the other has some hard stuff covering one end .theother end says 2???????????
I just want to know what these are for so I can do some tradeing with the locals. Both look to be the same in size but one has larger blades

Red Dog those numbers don't make sense to me, the 48-87818-9 could be a part number but i am just guessing & in order to know what engine that would fit you probably would need to know who the manufacturer is to cross reference it. The important numbers would be pitch & diameter.

The 48- # is Merc/quicksilver...If you had a pic of the other, I might know atleast the manufacturer...

Re: What does this prop fit?????

Both are for Merc/Mariner applications...
The prop with the Brass-colored hub is OEM, the other appears to be a Michigan wheel for the same application which I believe is 13 spline, 25-70HP engines.
The pics are "Very" big and a bit blurry, so I can't count the splines, but they both have the lock tab posts, so I believe that would be the application unless you count only 11 splines, in which it narrows down what they fit to about 4-5 engines.

Count the splines in the inner hub...let me know how many you come up with...it'll be 11 or 13.

Re: What does this prop fit?????

This prop has too small of hub to work on a 13 spline OMC product, in fact I think the shaft size would be bigger on the Rude.
The diameter of the props you have there should be between 10 and 11 inches with small blade area compared to what is used on your 70.

i cant really say because i dont know the current setup on your boat but in general, for the best hole shot and bad top end go with the smaller pitch one. for decent top end and holeshot with the larger one.
