When I look up my engine online, I need to look it up as J50ESLEUR because that's an engine code I can find online that matches mine.
  • J = Johnson
  • 50 = 50HP
  • E = Electric Start
  • S = Saltwater
  • L = Long Shaft
  • EU = 1997
  • R - Revision code
My actual engine code is X50ESLEUS.

What does X stand for?

I just learned how they determine the numbers for the year code. Most of you probably already know this...

Try this link, might help ya. Apparently OMC changed things up often. The X may have been a "place holder" for commercial.
